New 2017 Chrysler 200 at Brown's Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram for Patchogue, NY
Chrysler introduces three new models for the 2017 year in its 200 mid-size sedan, putting the completed model count at five. A gloss black exterior adds some stealth to the Touring model with its new 'Dark Appearance' Package, which also has halogen headlamps with black molding outlining them and eighteen-inch 'Jet Black Gloss' wheels. The new model names are as follows: the Touring, Limited Platinum, and 200C Platinum. The familiar continuing model names are the LX and the 200S, and all models bring the stately appearance and refined drive that most have come to know from the 200 in prior years. The 200S model's Alloy Edition Package also incorporates a sport-tuned suspension, adds Dark Bronze and Titanium finish coatings, and provides the availability of advanced all-wheel-drive (AWD) systems with inherent Sport modes. And just recently, the 2017 Chrysler 200 (FWD version) earned five stars for overall protection, the highest possible score in NHTSA's safety-rating program!
Under the 200's Hood
The back suspension is Multi-link independent, with dual-reacting twin-tube shock absorbers. The front suspension is a MacPherson strut with identical shocks. Every 200 trim is more than sufficient with a 2.4-liter, 4-cylinder Multiair2 Tigershark engine as standard, plus a 9-speed automatic transmission, and front-wheel drive. This arrangement sees 184 horsepower and 173 pound-feet of torque. Those requiring more can opt for the 200C Platinum trim or the 200S trim and elect a 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 that finds 295 horsepower and 262 lb-ft of torque. The 3.6-liter engine is standard with a nine-speed automatic and front-wheel drive, however, all-wheel drive is available as well. If AWD, the 200 conserves energy with its automatic, fully disconnecting rear axle. The 2017 Chrysler 200 saw an EPA-estimated highway fuel economy rating of 36 miles per gallon (mpg) at its most fuel efficient setup.
Design of Chrysler 200
The 2017 Chrysler 200 has 5 trims: the 200C Platinum, LX, 200S, Touring, and the Limited Platinum. The LX trim has a height-adjustable front seats, cruise control, a 60/40-split folding rear seat, keyless ignition and entry, 17-inch steel wheels, AC, automatic headlights, and a tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel-- all as standard. The Limited Platinum trim has a 7-inch thin-film transistor (TFT) display as standard. The Touring trim adds to that with a leather-wrapped steering wheel, 17-inch alloy wheels, floor mats, and the Uconnect 5.0. Moving into the 200 Limited Platinum will add the front LED running lights, Uconnect 8.4 system (with available Navigation), 17-inch alloy wheels, different exterior and interior trim, a rearview camera, leather upholstery, power-adjustable heated front seats (8-way driver, 6-way passenger), and an auto-dimming rearview mirror. The 200S gets heated mirrors, fog-lights, a satellite radio, power-adjustable heated front sport-seats, a sport-tuned suspension, a special trim on the exterior and interior, eighteen-inch wheels, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. Possible features to acquire would be the 200S Comfort Group (includes all 'Comfort & Convenience' items), the Uconnect 8.4 touchscreen, the Premium Lighting Group (both LED foglights and xenon headlights), a panoramic sunroof, the Navigation & Sound Group, and heated/ventilated front seats with complete leather upholstery. The 200C Platinum has high-quality gauging, the Comfort & Convenience Group features, the Uconnect 8.4 touchscreen, the Premium Lighting Group items, full leather seating, and a ten-speaker Alpine sound system. All 2017 200 trims have steering wheel mounted controls installed as standard. The Chrysler 200 gains an election for an 8.4-inch Uconnect touchscreen and comes standard with a sixteen-cubic-foot trunk as well. The rotary transmission shifter is well-thought out in placement, in that it opens up a space for a multi-level storage compartment in the middle of the bottom dashboard.
What is in the Touring Convenience Group?
The Touring Convenience Group places inside an 8-way power driver seat with 4-way power lumbar adjustment and a rearview camera.

What are some of the optional items for the 200?
A blind-spot warning system, the SafetyTec package, and a sunroof are optional on select models-- and there is also the Uconnect 8.4 touchscreen!
In government crash tests (NHTSA), the Chrysler 200 (FWD setup) also saw 5 stars for both front- and side-impact protection. The SafetyTec package, available on the 200C Platinum, puts in more safety items like rear-cross traffic alert, brake assistance, forward collision warning, blind-spot and lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control, automatic wipers, and an automated system for parallel/perpendicular parking. The 2017 Chrysler 200 manifests itself with standard features like a ParkView rear backup camera, the LATCH system, a tire pressure monitoring indicator, a security alarm, antilock brakes, supplemental side-curtain airbags for front and rear outboard seats, front side airbags, front knee airbags, traction and stability control, and a front-passenger seatbelt alert. In Insurance Institute for Highway Safety crash testing, the 200 was awarded a top score of 'Good' in the small-overlap moderate-overlap front-impact, roof strength front-impact, side-impact, and head restraint (whiplash) tests. IIHS bestowed upon the Chrysler 200 the rare 'Top Safety Pick' award from the 2017 testing results! In further IIHS testing, the Chrysler 200's automatic braking and frontal collision warning systems (both optional), achieved the highest rating of 'Superior'.
