New 2017 RAM 1500 at Brown's Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram for Patchogue, NY
The Ram 1500 series is one of the most trusted and the most powerful truck lines in its class, plus people just seem to love its rugged good looks and dependability! For 2017, the Sport trim adds a remote start and a security alarm, the Laramie Longhorn model augments itself with standard additions like SmartBeam technology, LED truck bed lighting, Keyless Go, and wipers that are rain-sensing, and then the Bighorn trim incorporates automatic temperature control. The remaining transmission is the 8-speed automatic, but that is a good thing as its so strong. For 2017, cabin air-filters are added standard on all trims-- not a huge feature, but a thoughtful nice-to-have feature from Ram.
Under the 1500's Hood
The 2017 Ram 1500 has a 3.6-liter gasoline V6 that produces 305 horsepower and 269 lb-ft of torque. There is a standard rear-wheel drive setup, yet owners can opt for 1 of the 2 4WD systems that are available. Either of these four-wheel drive systems have a 2-speed transfer case (with low-range gearing). An 8-speed automatic is the sole transmission that can be paired with the engines. A correctly equipped 1500 with the gasoline V6 can tow up to 7,610-lbs, and the diesel V6 can get to 9,210-lbs. The V8 can tow up to 10,640-lbs. Standard on Limited, Sport, and Laramie Longhorn trims and (available on all except the HFE) is a 5.7-liter V8 that gets 395 horsepower and 410 lb-ft of torque. Standard on the HFE (available on all except Sport, Express, Rebel) is a turbocharged 3.0-liter diesel V6 that sees 240 horsepower and 420 lb-ft of torque: the EcoDiesel engine.
