How To Remove the Hard Top From a Jeep Wrangler
Step 1: Remove the T-Tops

Start by carefully removing both T-tops from your Jeep Wrangler. This step is essential because you’ll need access to the screws located at the top of each side. Store the T-tops in a safe location where they won’t get scratched or damaged.
Step 2: Remove the Hard Top Mounting Bolts

Locate the mounting screws that secure your hard top to the vehicle frame. You’ll find four screws on each side of the Jeep (8 total):
- 6 will be located in the back
- The remaining 2 will be on top of the roof (accessible only after T-top removal)
Pro Tip: While you can remove these screws manually using the tools that come with your vehicle, an electric drill will make the job much faster and easier.
After screws have been removed, store them in their designated compartment in the back of the vehicle.
Step 3: Disconnect and Store Wiring
Before fully removing the hard top, disconnect any electrical connections. Your Jeep has a designated slot where you can safely tuck these wires out of the way during the conversion process.
Step 4: Remove the Hard Top

With all screws removed and wires disconnected, carefully lift the hard top off your Jeep. This is typically a two-person job due to the weight and size of the hard top.
Now it’s time to prepare for the soft top installation!
How To Put a Soft Top on a Jeep Wrangler
Step 1: Install the Rear Mounting Bracket

- Remove the existing rear piece from your Jeep’s framework
- Install the new rear mounting bracket – this is where your soft top will attach
- This bracket also serves as the mounting point for the rear window
Step 2: Unpack & Mount the Soft Top

To begin installation:
- Unpack the soft top from its packaging and place it on the back of the Wrangler
- Attach the soft top to the bracket installed on the back frame – Insert the circle on the soft top into the notch on the bracket
Step 3: Secure the Mounting Hardware

Install the mounting hardware for your new bracket:
- Using the bolts provided with your soft top kit, install two bolts on each side of the bracket
- Assemble the outer frame that the soft top will attach to (don’t forget the rubber sealing pieces – these prevent water leaks)

- Mount the outer frame you assembled on both sides of your Wrangler & tighten all bolts securely
- Position and install the front mounting bracket where the front portion of your soft top will attach.
Step 4: Attach the Soft Top to Outer Brackets

Continue installation of your soft top:
- Push the lever down and slide the Soft Top into the bracket by pulling from underneath

- Unlock the soft top and push forward into position
- Lock the soft top to the front frame to secure it in place
Step 5: Install the Side Windows

Install each side window following these steps:
- Slide the window into the groove located at the back of the soft top frame.
- Secure the lips of the window by sliding it under the grooves on the Wrangler’s frame.
- Repeat this process for both side windows
Step 6: Install the Rear Window

For the final step, install your rear window:
- Assemble the rear window by inserting the rear window mounting bar into the bottom of the rear window
- Slide the window into the groove on the soft top frame, similar to the side window installation process
- Ensure the window is properly seated and secure
Congratulations! You’ve successfully installed a soft top on your Jeep Wrangler!
Final Check
Once everything is installed:
- Test all window mechanisms to ensure smooth operation
- Check that all mounting points are secure
- Verify that rubber seals are properly positioned
- Take a moment to admire your newly converted soft top Jeep!
